If you’ve got an hour or two spare this afternoon, and access to a device that can play PC games, you can do a lot worse than spending it playing 20 Small Mazes, which is a free puzzle game from developer FLEB.
Once you’re done with that, its sequel – aptly titled 20 More, Somehow Even Smaller, Mazes – has just launched as another freebie. Get that added to your library for a rainy day.
As is implied by their titles, the games each offer twenty maze-based puzzles, similar to what you’d expect to find in the back of a newspaper amongst sudokus and word searches. Their digital medium affords them a bit more creativity than the humble pen and paper, and as you can see in the screenshot above, all twenty puzzles have been slapped, seemingly randomly, onto the page at once.
Cleverly, you’ll need to move each puzzle around the screen, while some puzzle solutions offer keys that are required to complete others. It’s clever stuff, and while I’ve not finished the sequel yet, the first game was superbly balanced to tickle my grey matter without causing a headache.
