Yes, it’s kind of ironic that I’ve just started a gaming blog called Nintendo Invader, but hey, I’m only human. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is by far – in my opinion – the best game that launched in 2025.
If you’re reading this site as a Nintendo fan that only plays games on Switch, this is one of those once-in-a-generation games that would warrant the purchase of a competitor’s hardware. Play it on PlayStation 5, or wait for it to come to Xbox or PC, but don’t sit on it. If you get the chance to play this game, I urge you to do so.
Death Stranding 2 is Hideo Kojima at his most unrelenting, playful genius. Every mission along the way will give you a new weapon, gizmo or power-up for you to play with, right up until the grand finale over 50 hours in, with a surprisingly rich and human story at the heart of it all.
It’s technically and artistically beautiful, and I didn’t encounter a single glitch or so much as a dip in frame rate throughout my entire time with it.
The first Death Stranding was a weird thing that struck a cord with me when I played it in 2020 – a time when I worked as a delivery driver during a global pandemic – but Death Stranding 2 is just a cut above. It’s pure game. There’s no other word for it. This one will stick with me for a long time, I’m sure.
