Retro Studios’ first non-Metroid Prime game was 2010’s challenging Wii platformer, Donkey Kong Country Returns. It was so challenging, in fact, that it included Nintendo’s ‘Super Guide’ feature – which made its début in New Super Mario Bros. Wii – whereby Super Kong offered to take over and show you how to get past a troublesome part of a stage should you die eight times consequently.
While Retro Studios continues work on its unannounced Wii U project, Monster Games (of Pilotwings Resort and Excite Truck fame) is porting Donkey Kong Country Returns to Nintendo 3DS, with as-yet unconfimed new content, and an optional easy mode; giving DK – and a player two that’s joined in via local download play – an extra heart, making it that little bit harder to lose a life for newcomers.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D arrives on Nintendo 3DS on 24th May. You can pre-order it here.
